Who receives a tax bill?
Real Property tax bills are issued to the person whose name appear as owner on record at the District Recorder of Deeds on  January 15th of each year (Title 33, Chapter 85, section 2410 VIC.).
 
I have property in the V.I. and have never received a tax bill. What should I do to receive a tax bill?
 If the property is recorded and you have not received a bill, you should contact your respective Tax Assessor's office.
 
When are tax bills mailed?
By Law, Tax bills are issued on or before June 30th each
Year and are mailed to the last known address on record at the office. 
 
What is the due date of the tax bill?
Generally, Real Property Taxes are payable on August 31st each year.  Payment after this date is delinquent and will be assessed a penalty of 1.5% of the amount due for each month.
 
What happens if the tax bills are mailed after the June 30th date?
A new due date will be established.
  
Where should I pay my property tax bill?
Real Property Taxes are paid at the Department of Finance, Treasury Division.
 
Can I pay my bill on line?
That service is not yet available.  However, payments can be made by mailing your check/money order to the Department of Finance, Treasury Division or you can call that department at 340-774-4750 and have the payment done by credit card
 
What should I do if I am not satisfied with my assessment?
If your request is before the due date of August 31st, you may contact your respective Tax Assessor's Office for an administrative review. If you are still not satisfied with this review, a formal appeal should be filed with the Board of Tax Review on or before September 15th.   Any requests for review after August 31sth should be formally filed with the Board of Tax Review.  
 
What is the assessment date?
The assessment date is January 15th each year.
 
What types of relief are available for taxpayers?
Taxpayers can relieve some of their tax burden by qualifying for one of the several exemptions that are available to property Owners.  The Exemptions are: Homestead, Veteran, Elderly, Senior & Disabled, Farmland, Non-profit Organization, and Economic Development Commission.
