In concert with his
efforts to complete the Christiansted
Boardwalk and revive the economy of St.
Croix, Lt. Governor Vargrave Richards
has worked closely with the Gallows Bay
Development Partners in a public/private
partnership to turn Gallows Bay dock
into a world-class mega yacht marina.
The major features of the
Gallows Bay Marina Project will include:
Accommodations for up
to 40 yachts (approx. 40 to 250
feet)
A Commercial center
with retail and office space
totaling 140,400 sq. ft.
A seaside park
The Gallows Bay Marina
Project will also provide exceptional
value to mega yacht owners with St.
Croix boasting lower fuel cost than
anywhere else in the Caribbean;
integrated refueling, recharging and
restocking station at each slip; and
dockside "black water" removal system.
Local area businesses
will be able to take advantage of new
service business opportunities;
potential for business expansion; and a
state-of-the-art office park.
Plans also call for the
improvement of public infrastructure for
area residents.
Lt. Governor Richards
said the project will be similar to the
$100 million Yacht Haven project on St.
Thomas, but will offer these luxury
yachts a new destination. He said the
Gallows Bay Marina development, along
with relatively low fuel prices on the
island, will attract small cruise ships
and luxury yachts to St. Croix.
"A development such as
this will rejuvenate the entire downtown
Christiansted area," Lt. Governor
Richards said. "St. Croix is on the
verge of an economic renaissance with
investor confidence at an all-time
high."
