LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR RICHARDS EXTENDS CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF
FORMER LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR MAAS
Lieutenant Governor Vargrave Richards extends his sincere condolences
to the family, friends and former constituents of The Honorable David
Maas, first elected Lieutenant Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Lieutenant Governor posthumously commended Mr. Maas for his service
during the administration of Governor Melvin Evans, and for his many
contributions to the economic advancement of the Territory through both
political and private business endeavors.
“Lieutenant Governor Maas enthusiastically promoted tourism industry
development for the U.S. Virgin Islands by a variety of means,”
Lieutenant Governor Richards said. “In many ways, we are still
traversing the path Mr. Maas helped pave in terms of actively marketing
the beauty and potential of our islands to the world. His efforts on
behalf of the Territory are greatly appreciated. He was a man of immense
creativity and immeasurable depth.”
