LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR WELCOMES TRIATHLETES
Lieutenant Governor Vargrave Richards extends a warm welcome to all
athletes participating in this Sunday's Half Ironman Triathlon.
"I wish the best of luck to all the triathletes for an invigorating
and successful competition through St. Croix's most scenic routes,"
Lieutenant Governor Richards said. "I am pleased to see so many
participants in training, and encourage the public to join in the thrill
of witnessing such an awe-inspiring show of athleticism."
The Lieutenant Governor also announces progress on a public-private
initiative, with the support of the St. Croix Foundation, for the development
of a bicycle path on St. Croix. Upon completion, the bike path will
provide residents and visitors alike with a safe, picturesque route
along which they can exercise.
"This partnership is an integral part of an overall strategy
to revitalize St. Croix's economy and to promote St. Croix as a world-class
ecotourism destination," Richards said.
Again, the Lieutenant Governor wishes all triathletes the best of luck
in their endeavors and an enjoyable stay on the beautiful island of
St. Croix.
