LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR EXTENDS HIS SUPPORT AND GRATITUDE TO ALL PUBLIC
SERVICE AGENCIES AND EMPLOYEES DURING THIS MONTH OF SPECIAL RECOGNITION
Lieutenant Governor Vargrave A. Richards extends his deepest gratitude
and support to all agency heads and employees who work in the public
service areas of education, healthcare, police, human services, housing,
and tourism arenas during their respective weeks of special recognition
throughout the month of May.
"Recognizing each department's special undertakings to bring awareness
to the important work performed on behalf of community well-being is
critical to engendering a sense of community pride and individual worth
for the task each employee performs," Richards stated.
Lieutenant Governor Richards further continued: "During these
designated times and with the concurrent issuance of corresponding proclamations,
it is meaningful that all citizens, in their professional, as well as
personal capacity pause to give thanks and appreciation for the commitment,
dedication and care displayed in the performance of work that benefits
us all."
"Every sector - our teachers in their commitment to student achievement
and success; our nurses, mental health, emergency workers and health
care workers who care for our elderly and who work in our hospitals
and provide the care necessary for the healing of mind, body and spirit;
our police officers who protect the safety and property of all residents;
our housing specialists who address housing needs and priorities; and
our tourism workers who expand our tourism base and bring much needed
revenues to drive social welfare priorities - are all critical in advancing
community well-being and community empowerment. I take this opportunity
to commend all for their tireless efforts on behalf of this Administration
and commend them wholeheartedly for their selfless contributions,"
Richards reiterated.
In ending, Lieutenant Governor Richards shares a favorite quote by
Tom Peters which states: "Techniques don't produce quality products
or pick up the garbage on time; people do, people who care, people who
are treated as creatively contributing adults." Richards underscores
for all during their time of "special recognition" that he
values their contributions. He extends his "very best wishes that
all special activities are successful and produce examples worthy of
emulation."
