LT. GOV. MOURNS LOSS OF GODFATHER OLAF JACKSON
Lieutenant Governor Vargrave A. Richards extends heartfelt condolences
to all family, friends and colleagues of his dearly departed Godfather
Olaf Jackson, better known as "Jack Caesar."
Lieutenant Governor Richards shared: "My Godfather was a man of
great depth and courage. He was consistently positive and exuded confidence
and know-how. He met each challenge with aplomb and was renowned in
his military career and in every other endeavor he undertook."
"He was a retired veteran, and I was saddened by his passing before
the Memorial Day events. He truly believed that service to country and
community was the path to peace and equality for all. He demonstrated
his commitment and dedication by staying involved in community activities
and in the American Legion for decades," Lieutenant Governor Richards
continued.
Lieutenant Governor Richards stated: "My Godfather's life was
full and varied. His love of community was also translated in the sharing
of his musical talents and in his tenure in government service. We all
loved to hear him play, to see the outpouring in his heart and soul
when he was a featured artist in such bands as Stanley and the Ten Sleepless
Knights, Blinkey and the Roadmasters and others such as Rhythm Kings,
Melo-Masters and the Armed Forces Orchestra. He was a great inspiration
and source of support to me throughout my musical career and in every
other area."
"I will miss his humor, his vibrancy and his love of life,"
Lieutenant Governor Richards concluded. "May he rest in peace and
love."
