LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR VARGRAVE RICHARDS EXTENDS GRATITUDE TO WORKERS IN
THE VI
Lieutenant Governor Vargrave Richards extends his gratitude and support
to all workers throughout the Territory in celebration of Labor Day.
Richards states that: "I take this opportunity to thank all members
of the labor force who are tireless public servants as well as those
in the private sector who help fuel the economy and contribute to the
positive social fabric of the Territory."
"I also show appreciation to Labor Unions throughout the Territory
who are committed to improving the standard of working environments
for the multitudes of union workers. Protecting workers' rights over
the decades has led to impressive solidarity and results, borne through
the collective power of the workers represented, and passed on to the
entire community," Richards continued.
Richards further asked that: "we offer prayers and thanks to all,
especially those low-wage laborers throughout the Territory and the
Nation who work long hours, who still cannot afford health care, who
still in this 21st Century cannot adequately provide for themselves
and their families."
Richards encouraged both: "Public and private sector employers,
unions and all other organizations to collaborate harmoniously for more
creative avenues of increasing productivity, enhancing job security,
providing vital health care, to share economic rewards and to contribute
to the common good of the community."
"As a former Labor leader, I am ever mindful of the contributions
and sacrifices made by so many who work tirelessly because they see
a vision of prosperity and justice for all. I also recognize the contributions
of those employers who engage their workers as partners and who help
build the economic health and vitality of their respective communities,"
Richards concluded.
Richards offered his best wishes to all for a safe and enjoyable Labor
Day Weekend.
