LT. GOVERNOR EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF WILFRED JAMES
Lieutenant Governor Vargrave Richards extends profound condolences
to family, friends and colleagues on the passing of Mr. Wilfred James.
Richards noted that Mr. James was a dedicated Department of Education
employee for over twenty years, as an astute and engaging history teacher
and later on as an Administrator and Deputy Commissioner.
"Wilfred and I shared many interesting and active times together.
I especially remember our many heated and lively discussions, as well,
during our service together as Board of Education members, until his
departure from the Board in the early 90's. He was also very opinionated
and shared his views openly on matters critical to improving the well-being
of the community," Richards shared.
"I also recall our memorable bowling days as 'bowling buddies.'
In a more personal way, Wilfred demonstrated that he was a loving individual
and father, generous to family, friends and community alike," Richards
stated.
"We are saddened by the loss of this community stalwart and appreciate
his decades of service to the Government of the Virgin Islands as a
tireless public servant under the Department of Education, in instituting
the government personnel system and in community involvement activities.
We have benefited from his many and generous contributions," Richards
added.
