LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR EXTENDS HOLIDAY GREETINGS
Lieutenant Governor Vargrave Richards extends his sincere wishes to
all in the Virgin Islands and abroad for a joyful Holiday Season and
bright and prosperous New Year.
"The Christmas Season is a time I look forward to each year with
great anticipation," Lieutenant Governor Richards said. "Our
rich heritage and culture comes vibrantly alive with the celebrations
throughout the Territory.
"From the 'Battle of the Choraliers' in Emancipation Garden at
daybreak, and 'Miracle on Main Street' on St. Thomas to 'Serenading
on St. John' and the annual 'Crucian Christmas Festival,' giving residents
and visitors alike the opportunity to experience our unique traditions
that represent several decades of our combined rich and diverse history,"
the Lieutenant Governor continued.
Lieutenant Governor Richards additionally extends his heartfelt wishes
to all military personnel serving in the fight for peace and freedom
around the world. "I want them to know that as we gather to celebrate
Christmas, they will be uppermost in our hearts and prayers. We wish
them God's peace and love and hope that they will return home safely."
Finally, Lieutenant Governor Richards once again encourages all to join
in the Crucian Christmas Festival, to taste the mouth-watering treats
so familiar to those on St. Croix at this time of year, such as the
traditional guavaberry and coquito, the delicious sweetbread, and the
popular lechon.
"Moreover, I wish everyone a joyous Holiday Season and their heart's
desire for the New Year," Lieutenant Governor Richards said.
"Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and Happy New Year!"
