LT. GOVERNOR EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COMPATRIOTS
OF ERYLE ALRIC ROHLSEN
Lieutenant Governor Vargrave Richards extends sincere condolences to
the family, friends and associates of admired veteran Eryle "Lucy"
Rohlsen.
"A staunch patriot, Mr. Rohlsen served as the territory's Director
of Veterans Affairs during some tumultuous times when the local government
was responsible for most of the support and care for our servicemen
and women," Lieutenant Governor Richards said. "He was a true
friend of our veterans. His service to our territory was untiring and
his service to our nation was most admirable."
Perpetually active in the community, Mr. Rohlsen was a long-time member
of the Gentlemen of Jones and a World War II veteran who remained highly
involved in American Legion Post 85 for decades.
Mr. Rohlsen's service as past president of the National Association
of State Directors of Veterans Affairs was a notably prestigious appointment,
given that he was the only person outside the contiguous United States
to hold that position. His legacy will live on in his namesake of the
Veterans Affairs building in Estate Richmond, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin
Islands.
Eryle Rohlsen will be missed by friends, family and fellow veterans
alike. May he rest in eternal peace.
